“Así somos” Bienvenida Misión Visión “Así somos” “Así somos” Hace tres años comenzamos nuestra campaña “Así somos”.  Con esta declaración afirmativa trabajamos y afirmamos nuestra identidad denominacional.  Afirmamos una gran alegría de ser Evangélicos Unidos. Bajo el lema Siembra, cosecha y celebra nos dedicamos a la tarea agrícola de la siembra en fe.  Por otro lado, “Así somos” es un reclamo, una intención de afirmar que somos así, especiales.  Es una invitación a recoger toda nuestra historia rica y diversa de cien años.  Es una afirmación dinámica y ética de nuestro ser como iglesia. De aquí surgió nuestro segundo lema “Pueblo de Dios”.  Afirmamos que somos una comunidad de fe con una gran herencia y tradición.  Afirmamos que somos el único proyecto ecuménico real que se ha dado en Puerto Rico.  Este año dimos paso a nuestro tercer lema “Pueblo de Dios puesto en marcha” Afirmamos esta identidad con un orgullo saludable, nos da un valor y una responsabilidad que es intrínseca con nuestra realidad.   Es una identidad que es muy nuestra y que tenemos la gran responsabilidad de ir compartiendo con nuestra gente, nuestra familia y nuestra nación.  Hablamos de una vocación, de unos orígenes y de una razón de ser.  Afirmamos que nuestra identidad y dignidad viene de nuestro Dios  que nos llamó. Hay una gran responsabilidad de ser “Así”, una responsabilidad ética, que nos empuja a vivirla en nuestra tierra puertorriqueña.  Ética que tiene su fundamento teológico y que tiene que ser expresada desde esa base, tiene que tener nuestra expresión de fe. La ética cristiana nos exige un comportamiento y un estilo de vida. Así somos tiene una gran responsabilidad ante nuestra sociedad puertorriqueña.  Somos pastores y pastoras al servicio de nuestras comunidades, somos laicos al servicio de nuestras comunidades.  Tenemos que vivir este compromiso con integridad y dedicación. Así somos habla de nuestra espiritualidad, seremos sin duda una comunidad de fe inmersa en el camino de la experiencia del Espíritu.  Tendremos la fuerza y el poder para transformar a nuestra gente, nuestras comunidades y a la familia en general. Así somos  nos habla de un trabajo en conjunto con otras comunidades de fe, que tendrá un elemento profundo de caminar juntos en beneficio de un Puerto Rico que nos escucha y nos mira. Así somos nos identifica como profetas y profetizas en medio de la vida del pueblo de Dios.  Tal vez aquí tenemos una de las tareas más importante en este tiempo en el que vivimos. Ser profetas de esperanza y de vida.  Tenemos la gran responsabilidad de interpretar las señales de los tiempos  y ayudar al pueblo a responder en fidelidad a Dios.  Tenemos la misión de ser profetas que afirmen el deseo grande de Dios de paz, justicia y dignidad. Tenemos que profetizar nuevos y poderosos caminos de esperanza.   Así somos, Rvdo. Edward Rivera-Santiago Pastor General Iglesia Evangélica Unida de Puerto Rico Bienvenida Hemos comenzado una nueva etapa en la Iglesia Evangélica Unida de  Puerto Rico.  Etapa llena de desafíos profundos que nos ponen en  caminos nuevos y retantes.  Caminos donde afirmaremos nuestra Visión y  Misión. La iglesia Evangélica Unida de Puerto Rico es una denominación  centenaria que por ciento Diez años ha sido guía espiritual de nuestro  pueblo.   Juntos, como pueblo de Dios, afirmaremos nuestra unidad en  este tiempo árido que nos ha tocado vivir como pueblo puertorriqueño.    Afirmaremos un camino  de fe y esperanza, que sin duda desembocará  en una iglesia fuerte y pertinente.   La imagen del camino será un  símbolo teológico importante en nuestra liturgia y reflexiones  bíblicas dominicales durante el año 2009.  ¡Cristo es el camino! Así Somos, Pueblo de Dios puesto en marcha será el tema de nuestra  Asamblea General 2009.   Este tema nos afirma y nos invita a una  experiencia de seguir el rumbo marcado por nuestro Dios; rumbo de  crecimiento, compromiso, llamado y entrega  confiada.  Puesto en  marcha es una invitación al discipulado y a la mayordomía cristiana.   Puesto en marcha es la actitud y el comportamiento que Dios espera  de nuestra iglesia.Nos pondremos en marcha por densa que sea  la oscuridad, y  recorreremos con audacia significativa este camino trazado por nuestro  Dios.   Un camino que puede estar lleno de peligrosas curvas y  recodos, de subidas y bajadas, incluso de precipicios; pero que ha de  llevarnos con toda certeza a la meta deseada. Este será un camino que nos hace estar convencidos de que Dios camina con nosotros. Cada congregación local, así como cada líder de nuestra denominación  tendrá que ponerse en marcha con una madurez espiritual y un carácter  firme para lograr los sueños más poderosos que tenemos como pueblo de  Dios.   Tendremos que descubrir caminos de servicio para responder a  nuestras comunidades eclesiales y a nuestras comunidades de base.   Dejaremos que nuestros proyectos de vida se inspiren en dicho camino  trazado por nuestro Dios.   Será un camino de fidelidad no solo a  nosotros mismos, a nuestra denominación,  sino sobre todo a nuestro  Dios. ¡El Señor camina con su pueblo y es Fiel!. Puesto en marcha son caminos de justicia donde consideramos a  nuestro semejante y a toda la creación de Dios. Es acoger,  relacionarnos y amar con profundidad.  Es caminar con quien camina y  levantar a quienes están varados en el camino; es  no dejar nunca a  nadie solo en la necesidad. Nuestro compromiso desde las Oficinas de la Iglesia será llevarles en  oración y servirles para que podamos  desarrollar juntos y juntas como  pueblo el ministerio que Dios ha puesto en nuestras manos.
